Ceramic materials are inorganic, non-metallic materials, that contain at least one metallic and one nonmetallic element, prepared by the action of heat and subsequent cooling.
CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
1. Chemical / Electrochemical corrosion properties:
Ceramics rarely undergo anything comparable to metal chemical corrosion or electrochemical
corrosion.
2. Solubility:
Ceramics generally have good chemical resistance to weak acids and weak bases. However, very strong acids or strong bases tend to produce ion exchange reactions and dissolve the structures.
Methods for fabrication of ceramic ware shape:
- Soft Mud
- Stiff Mud
- Hot Pressing
- Dry Pressing
- Isostatic Pressing
- Hot isostatic pressing (HIP)
- Slip Casting
- Gel Casting
- Tape casting
