Solvent of paints is either an organic solvent or water is used to reduce the viscosity of the paint for better application. i e, Thinner.
Functions of solvent:
-It dissolves film forming materials.
-it is also used to suspend pigments.
-After adding solvent(thinner), the paint may be applied more easily on the surface by brushing, dipping or spraying.
